Issues such as loading errors, frame-rate drop, achievements not unlocking, textures missing, and incorrect subtitles are littered throughout the game. On the downside, Stranger's Wrath suffers from some aggravating glitches and performance flaws that remind you of the horrors that follow game ports.

The story is interesting and comical and introduces twists and turns that completely change the atmosphere of the game without going too far out into the bizzare. Every level brings on a diverse challenge that can be approached differently each time and delivers enjoyable boss fights that can be demanding enough to make you rethink your strategy. The game allows you to seamlessly alternate between a third-person view for ease of mobility, and a first-person view for shooting the critters at foes and obstacles. Stranger's Wrath is a fairly straight-forward action/adventure strategy game that introduces a unique gameplay mechanic where your ammo consists of tiny creatures each with a distinct ability to distract, devour, and destroy your enemies. Just Add Water's console-to-PC port reawakens the 2005 Xbox release with better visuals, audio, and stability on the PC. Even if you haven't played any other Oddworld game, you don't need to since the only real overlap is that Fuzzles exist here too. It's got some really great twists that had me really care about the characters involved but I can't say much about those without ruining it. Storywise it's incredible too, it manages to deal with a lot of mature themes, money, crime, identity, exploitation and more all in the Oddworld way. Bosses also regenerate stamina but not health so you can reach a point where not killing them is impossible forcing you to load a save if you're going for non lethal, also many kills can't be avoided like snipers on ledges. Using Chippunks for example, extremely small range, and almost impossible to get an enemy into a position where they can't see you and no-one else can see you capture them. A lot of the time enemy areas are defended so well and areas designed so linearly that it's impossible to approach unnoticed, the combat is fun but it can get clumsy, especially since a few of the ammo types aren't as effective as they should be. This is my biggest gripe with the game, the stealth system should have been much more developed, it's barely implemented in most bounties and if enemies get alerted they can stumble upon you pretty fast, and their vision is really good. The game has map that shows you enemy view cones letting you plan your approach more effectively, and a rudimentary stealth system to hide in tall grasses. Alive is harder to do but provides much more money for doing so, money that can be spent on upgrades at the store to make life easier for you, capturing them dead removes them as a threat in combat and is generally easier to do. The interesting aspect to all this is that you can capture goons and bosses either alive or dead, both with their own benefits. There's a decent variety of goons to deal with and every bounty boss comes with it's own unique creativity, lots of fun to fight them even on Hard difficulty where they can be pretty challenging. The game is set up for the most part with The Stranger acting as a bounty hunter to earn money, taking on bounties, heading to a location and fighting your way through the bounty's goons before encountering them directly. All of them serving their own unique purposes with how you approach combat. In first person you gain access to your double barrel crossbow with a decent variety of ammo types you can swap out on either barrel at will. The most important aspect to all this is transitioning between 3rd and 1st person perspective at the touch of a button, a gameplay mechanic that is integral to the game. It feels so satisfying to build up speed and to have The Stranger fall onto all 4's and sprint like an animal, it feels natural and responsive. His jump height feels a bit restrictive but that's such a nitpick and hardly matters. Controlling The Stranger feels amazing, he has a real weight to him, but not in the heavy realistic way you might expect from something like modern GTA games.

Coming from Munch's Oddysee where they struggled with controlling a character in 3d space here they've managed to address those problems with flying colours. It looks amazing, it sounds amazing, most importantly it plays amazing. Long story short, I loved this game, straight up.
